Well, it's January 27th. It's currently 9:10 AM EST. My flight leaves for Boston at 3:28 PM; from there I get to wait until 9:45 PM for my flight to London. I arrive at 9:15 AM (London time). It's been years of anticipation in the making and now that it has finally arrived I feel...relieved? Excited? Anxious? A little sad? All of the above? The whole situation itself feels a little surreal. It's funny how it works - I've been planning nonstop the last two months and now that I leave, it feels strange to just sit here without any tasks hanging over my head. I've been through the study abroad process a couple times now, since I was originally planning to go abroad in the spring of 2021. However, when I had essentially just finished my application in March of 2020, Covid hit and study abroad was cancelled. So after two years of preparation and about 7 years of excitement (since Megan went abroad), today is the day.
Of course, as I mentioned before, I'm just starting to feel a little sad. Goodbyes suck, even if they're temporary; still, my excitement is overshadowing this at the moment. I'm also thankful for all the love and support I've received from everyone to help add to my excitement. It's hard to be sad when everyone around me is telling me how much fun I'll have. Well, now it's time to start the fun and I'll make sure to keep everyone along on the ride. London, my dream city, I'll see you in 18 hours and 55 minutes.
Hooray! You are on your way! I’m sure you are going to love it! Stay safe!
I'm so excited for you, Ben! And excited to see what you write about! Traveling to other countries (or even other parts of our own country), it's interesting to see the subtle and not so subtle differences from where we live, as well as the unexpected things that are the same. Having never been to England, I'm excited to hear what you discover!
